An OFSTED graded Outstanding lesson for introducing students to the design, make and evaluate requirements of design technology. Ideal for Key Stage 3,4 and 5 including students with no previous hard technology experience. The main focus of the lesson is to work as part of a small team to creatively problem solve, by creating a cardboard chair with limited equipment and resources. The chair must be freestanding, and support the weight of a team member. All Personal Learning Thinking Skills and Functional Skills are developed throughout this lesson and are detailed in the lesson plan. Resource is fully differentiated including a help sheet and extension task. Assessment for Learning is fully detailed, as is a risk assessment and resource requirement list.

This resource pack consists of 24 weeks (2 terms) worth of mock exam questions, structured around the specification content of EDUQAS A Level Product Design, as well as model answers in the PowerPoints, written using the mark schemes and examiners reports. The questions can be given as standalone homework or used as extension tasks. The questions are mixed, (high and low mark questions), and gathered from past papers. I would recommend you give the students one question a week to complete for homework and then review it as group using these PowerPoints. Can also be used to cover the specification content from other A Level exam boards, as the content required is very similar.

This booklet has been constructed around the EDUQAS A Level Design Technology specification, although it can be easily adjusted to suit any exam board. A mini design and make project which introduces students to the required content for assessment for both GCSE and A Level Design Technology. The students are required to manufacture a holder for a boiled egg, using a small amount of given dissimilar materials. They are to produce a mini portfolio of design work alongside the 3D outcome. Pack consists of the unit of work, from design brief to evaluation, evaluation help sheet, as well as a summative assessment sheet for the teacher, which allows you to assess your students on the quality of the portfolio, design work and 3D outcome, as well as offering them the chance to feedback to you what they enjoyed/disliked about the project – an OFSTED favourite.

Graphic Design Children’s Book Illustration Home Learning Mini Project: 5 hours worth of teaching content. Self assessment criteria for each task. Tasks range from investigation into illustrators, through to design development, final design and self evaluation. This project will allow students to take inspiration from existing children’s book illustrators, to redesign the front cover of a children’s book of their choice. The project can be created by hand, or using digital design tools like Microsoft Office, or Adobe Design Software. Suitable for KS3 and KS4 art and design and D&T.

The students are required to investigate existing board games, design and make their own and create a small wooden dice, clay counters/game pieces, and a fabric sleeve to hold their game. The resource is clearly broken down into tasks and visual examples of previous work to help scaffold and support student learning. Material requirements: A4 modelling card air dry clay (or playdough/modelling clay) 30x30mm square of wood (pine ideally) recycled fabric for the sleeve (old curtains etc)

This project will introduce students to the world of metals, and give them the opportunity to manipulate a non ferrous metal through cutting and shaping. The project is based around a given design brief - creating a small metal gift for a zoo gift shop. There is visual examples to help guide the students, as well as assessment criteria and design based extension tasks, including designing a logo for the zoo, packaging for the gift and a shop front for the gift to be sold in. There is also a further extension design task which focuses on modelling and designing a 3D schematic map for their zoo.

GCSE Engineering Component 1&2 resource bundle. There are five PowerPoints in total, each PowerPoint covers a learning aim - Two for Component 1 (Learning aim A and B), and three for Component 2 (Learning aim A,B and C. Together, these make up the entirety of the non examined assessment of the Pearson/BTEC Engineering GCSE qualification. The resources are clearly developed to allow the students to use them as work booklets. Each component resource has been developed based on the suggested briefs from Pearson. The tasks on each PowerPoint can be completed using the guidance/sentence starters on each slide to assist learners who require scaffolded support. All tasks are numbered, and have been created in line with Distinction criteria examples from the exam board.
